Now that most people have caught up it's time to publish another Blogprompt before we fall too far behind!
Thanks for the contributions so far - they are very interesting.
At the moment the theme in class is sustainable travel. Transport undoubtedly has had a major influence on economic and social development facilitating the movement of goods, people and ideas. Greater accessibility, mobility and communication has shaped the type of global society we live in today.
But is there a cost? Environmentalists will emphasize the problems associated with unlimited travel - depletion of fossil fuels, local air pollution, emissions of greenhouse gases, congestion and accidents, destruction of the countryside and the expansion of land under concrete to name but a few. Even our over-reliance on motorized transport has been linked to a general lack of fitness in the population at large.
So...what are your views? Is there really a transport problem? Do the benefits of motorized transport outweigh the costs? Are there any minor (or perhaps major) changes you personally feel could make our present transport system more sustainable?
Transportation has been one of the major economic contributions in the UK for decades. It has played every part in all the economic sectors enhancing growth and better life for society, for instance; better communication, supplying goods, etc.
ReplyDeleteHowever, the benefits of motorized transport outweigh the cost in UK societies; this is due to members of the society has been misusing transportation system, without considering the disadvantages caused by transport. Apparently, our societies are faced with a lot of environmental issues like, air pollution, congestion charges, road accidents and health problems which are mainly caused by transportation in general.
Transportation system in the UK could more sustainable if , the UK government would implement new rules to the public, for instance; only public transportation should be used in pick hours, cycling and walking should be introduced to reduce motors for short journeys and fitness. Remember ‘too much of everything is harmful’.
Yes there is really a transport problem, and the government need to do something about it as they tend to waste their money on how we use transport which also affects climate change and they say that they want to put a stop to it. i think they should only use transport only when needed for example, maybe transporting goods, etc.
ReplyDeleteI feel the government need to change a lot of things and i do feel that benefits of transports does over weigh because people tend to overuse the transport system and they need to stop abusing it. I feel the government need to make a lot of changes and try to encourage people do more things in order to make them more healthy and to also help the environment at the same time.
Transport is important to the community because thats how people get round to there destinations but at the same time the government spend too much money on transport and sometimes it not necessary what have we should make do.
ReplyDeleteAlso the government need to make changes to the transports system because people do tend to avold the system. The government need to try and encourage people to do more activities to make them more healthy.
ReplyDeleteTransport is very important because people from all over the Community use it and it takes them to there destinations. But at the same time the Government spend way to much money on transport and the people tend to overuse the transport system and also some of the issues that this country has are air pollution, congestion charges and road accidents.I think the Government need to make some changes and to try encourage the people to do more exercise and to be more healthy and by doing so this would help the environment and at the same time.
ReplyDeleteThe Government should get to work on these issues asap and try and get people to cycle to work or walk this would bring health problem rate a lot more lower.
